East Ascension’s Claire Weinberger signed to play softball at LSU. Weinberger, who plays shortstop and hit .582 with 28 RBIs and 15 stolen bases as a junior, will join former Spartan teammate and neighbor Bailey Landry. Landry attended Weinberger’s signing ceremony held Wednesday night at the school.

Weinberger was one of three EAHS softball players to sign. Pitcher Jessie Watts signed with University of Louisiana at Monroe and outfielder Verlencia Jackson signed with Mississippi Valley. Dutchtown High pitcher Ali McCoy signed with Southeastern Louisiana University.

St. Amant softball player Kourtney Gremillion signed a letter with University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She batted .540 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs as a junior and also had a slugging percentage of 1.011. Gremillion will join her sister, former St. Amant star Kara Gremillion, who is now a UL-Lafayette freshman.

St. Amant second baseman Adam Sevario signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for Florida International University, coached by Turtle Thomas. Sevario hit .459 as a junior and has recovered from a spinal injury suffered in an auto accident over the summer.
