Leadership Ascension, a program of the Ascension Chamber of Commerce, graduated its 21st Leadership Ascension class on June 14 at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center in Gonzales.

The 35 participants worked in teams during the 10-month program to research and implement projects for the Ascension community.

Projects included the Enough is Enough campaign educating on the signs of domestic violence; a safe play space through Healthy Spaces for West Bank Faces; Lights, Camera, ACTion in Ascension, which assisted with renovations of the Ascension Community Theatre; and Play Ascension’s effort to show children the positive effects of sports on health and well-being.

Healthy Spaces for West Bank Faces, made up of Cindy Babin, Rick Bergeron, Scott Bradshaw, Kevin Chenier, Daniel Domangue, Chris Irvine, Charla Johnson, Trinette Reynard and Jackie Tisdell, was chosen as this year’s team project winner.

This year’s participants included: Babin, of Prejean Computer Consultants LLC; Josh Beck, Amy Vidrine and Irvine, all of BASF; Bergeron and Allison Hudson, both of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office; Bradshaw, of Cox Communications; Nick Campesi, Bill Riddle and Chenier, all of Methanex; David Curtis, of GSA Consulting Engineers; Kristina Cusick, of Pennant Real Estate; Nick Daigle, of RJ Daigle & Sons Contractors Inc.; and Domangue, of Skid Marks Tire Pros.
