For the past few weeks, 11 area business professionals have been learning new dance moves in preparation for Saturday night’s Dancing for a Cause, a fundraiser for Community Opportunities — The Arc of East Ascension.
Tickets are available for the event set for 7 p.m. at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.
Patterned off the popular “Dancing with the Stars” television show, the fundraiser pairs residents with varying degrees of dance experience with experienced choreographers and dancers.
Saturday’s dancers include Shelly Graham, owner of Action Fitness; Donna Villar, owner of Villar & Co. Realtors; Brittany LeBlanc , LeBlanc Food Stores; Lisa Bacala, Ascension Parish schools; Stephanie Haas, owner of Platinum Express Car Wash; Alsie Dunbar, chemist with Motiva Enterprises; Deron Talley, editor of the Weekly Citizen; Dr. Harry Brown, dentist with Brown, Kogler & Rome Family Dentistry; Kent Schexnaydre, Ascension Parish councilman; Derek LeBlanc, Gonzales Police Department; and Rick Dickmyer, site manager with Momentive Speciality Chemical.
Last year’s winner, attorney Ryan Chenevert, and Q 106 on-air personality Latangela Sherman will serve as hosts. Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez, Czarina Walker, attorney Matt Pryor and District Judge Jessie LeBlanc are set to judge the event.
Doors open at 6 p.m. at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center Trademart building.
Tickets are $25, available at LeBlanc’s Food Stores or from the ARC of East Ascension office at 1122 S. E. Ascension Complex Blvd., Gonzales. They will be on sale at the door for $30.
