St. Amant Middle Beta Club recently raised $2,000 for the March of Dimes through in -and out-of-school activities.
Club members presented the donation before the recent March for Babies hosted in Gonzales, sponsor Arlene Marchand said.
Marchand said the St. Amant Middle Beta Club is an academic and service organization that donates money and items to many charities.
“In addition, we spend time providing services to others in our community,” she said.
The March of Dimes is one of those charities that is special to the SAMS Beta club because of Marchand’s experience of delivering a premature baby more than 20 years ago.
Marchand said her child is now a healthy adult.
Students hosted a dress down day March 26 for the March of Dimes.
Beta Club members Abigal Potrament, Kristin Averett, Hannah Simmons, Romona Thomas, Savannah Cooke, Megan Benoit, Trey Vice, Emma Breaux, Kimberly Bourgeois, Nicholas Barr, Isabella Edmonston, Breanna Garza and Raven Tureaud each raised $100 through out-of-school activities.
