The Noldes of St. Amant are a motorcycle family.

Father, Kevin, mother Jillian and three sons; Kevin B., 12, Zachariah, 10, and Edison Trey, 8, all ride. Despite being displaced after the recent flooding — they're living in the upstairs portion of their house while repairs are being made — the passion for riding hasn't stopped.

The family has lots of motorcycles and they all ride, even mom.

“Well, Kevin and I met on Match.com and in my profile I stated I liked to ride motorcycles, but I didn’t mean race them,” Jillian said. “But that’s what I got because Kevin (dad) loves to race.”

So Kevin B. got his start on a motorcycle riding with his dad at 2 and on his own at age 3. He’s parlayed those skills in his short 12 years to be selected as one of only four riders from the United States to participate in the 2016 Red Bull Rookies cup selection event at the Guadix Racing Circuit near Granada, Spain.

More than 115 riders from 32 nations around the world have been invited, and over three days, they will be show off their skills on the 125cc Metrakit bikes used for the event.

Based on their performance, a panel of experts will draw up a short list of those to be invited to join the Rookies Cup for 2017 to ride the KTM RC 250 R Moto3 machines in 13 races across Europe.

Along the way, Kevin B. has become an accomplished mini-motorcycle road racer with wins and podiums at several events. So far this year, he’s leading the points in four regions going into the finals. He cannot lose the regional titles at this point, but he would like to add another pair of national titles to his resume at the October 2016 WERA Grand National Finals.

In 2015, Kevin won six regional and two national WERA mini titles as well as all of the CMRA (Texas league) races he entered.

This sport is a family affair as Kevin and his brothers have logged over 30,000 miles in their van in 2016 already while racing and participating in the paddocks of the Moto America rounds, America’s premier professional motorcycle race series. Kevin trains at NOLA Motor Sports Park with his two brothers.

Kevin B. is an honor-roll student at St. Amant Middle school, a member of the Beta club and Cajun Cookers.

Besides motorcycle racing, he enjoys training through skateboarding, cycling and dirt-bike riding. He has worked as an extra in many movies and television shows including recently remake of “The Magnificent Seven.” The entire family participated as extras in the movie, and the two younger boys have agents for acting.

To say motorcycle racing is Kevin’s passion would be an understatement. “This opportunity is like a dream, as motorcycle racing is the thing I want to do in my life more than anything, and to be selected as one of only four racers in the U.S. is amazing. But I do have a plan “B” if this doesn’t work out. I could work as a stunt man.”

Kevin B. will be on the track vying for his spot in the selection process as the event is scheduled for Oct. 18 - 20.

Kevin B. has a Facebook page and is on Instagram. He's also set up a Go Fund Me account listed as KB Nolde motorcycle racer.
