Cadets from the Ascension and Capital City Squadrons of the Civil Air Patrol will represent Louisiana in the Southwest Region Competition later this month.
Members of the Ascension Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron won the honor during a recent Cadet Competition in Lafayette.
The competition was open to CAP color guard teams from throughout state.
The Ascension cadets joined members of the Capital City composite Squadron to compete against the Barksdale Composite Squadron, Pontchartrain Composite.
Teams competed in seven events, including written exam, quiz bowl, mile run, indoor and practical tests, inspection and standard drill.
“The cadets that participated in the color guard competition this past weekend did an outstanding job,” Lt. Col. Shelly Thibodaux, Louisiana Wing director of cadet programs, said. “The teams looked sharp and the staff kept everything working. Even the spectators pitched in to make this competition a success.
“The teams clearly worked very hard to prepare for the competition and all of the cadets and senior members who participated in the competition and worked as staff are to be commended for a successful weekend event.”
