Geismar teen graduates from LSMSA with distinction _lowres

Christopher Carter, of Geismar, was one of six seniors to graduate with distinction, the highest academic honor given by Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, on May 21 during a commencement ceremony in Prather Coliseum on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Graduation with distinction is awarded to students who complete a rigorous program of independent academic study or artistic endeavor beyond the formal course requirements of LSMSA, according to a news release.

Carter’s mentor was biology instructor Jason Anderson. His project was “Analysis of Epstein-Barr Virus-Regulated Gene Expression Changes in Relation to LMP1-Medicated NF-kappaB Activation.”
