Answering the Call, a Donaldsonville citizen’s group, is hosting a praise and worship rally and march at 4:30 p.m. Saturday starting at 1411 McKinley St.
The public is invited to attend the celebration-styled event, which will feature prayers and music.
Organizers said the purpose of the event is “to pray over the city of Donaldsonville, and encourage peace, love and hope among the people, the businesses and the leaders.”
“We’re praying for a change in Donaldsonville,” Tamiko Garrison, group founder, said. “It’s all about stopping the violence, praying for the children and parents.
“We want the young people to know that successful people live in and come from Donaldsonville,” she said. “We want to share the message of hope.”
Garrison said she sees increased community interest in “providing a positive change in the city.”
She said she formed Answering the Call as a ministry “to make a difference led by the word of God.”
