Ascension Parish Deputies Micah Santangelo and Brock Carpenter graduated Oct. 14 from the Capital Area Regional Training Academy in Baton Rouge.

About 30 members of law enforcement, representing 15 different agencies from across the state, graduated from the program. The graduates learned physical training, legal and report writing skills, law enforcement history and numerous other topics and skills.

“This graduation represents 11 weeks of hard work and resulted in all of these deputies attaining their post certification,” Chief Tony Bacala said.

Carpenter and his wife welcomed a new baby boy during the 11-week program, a news release from the Sheriff’s Office said.

Bacala challenged the deputies to continue their formal education.
