St. Amant High School business teacher Alicé Bourque is shifting positions to become coordinator of the school’s General Cooperative Education program.
Bourque will help students find jobs in the Ascension Parish community that match their abilities, backgrounds and interests, a news release said. The students receive hands-on job experience, academic direction and credit. She also will develop individual training programs for each student.
“The goal of our cooperative education program is to help students develop knowledge and skills in the workplace. These skills will enable them to learn and grow so that they can be successful and employable members of our community, after graduation or their postsecondary education,” Bourque said.
Bourque has taught in the business department at St. Amant High since 2013. Previously, she was a part-time career coach at the school for two years. She also is a former Ascension Chamber of Commerce CEO.
“I feel like every job I’ve ever had has prepared me for this one and I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity to marry my knowledge of business and industry with that of education to help my students,” she said.
Businesses interested in partnering with the program can call Bourque at (225) 391-6000 or email email@example.com.
