Sheriff Jeff Wiley and staff from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office hosted a luncheon for World War II veterans at Café Lafourche in Donaldsonville on June 24.

Eight veterans, some with their wives, shared their stories and enjoyed fellowship with one another, a news release said.

Also in attendance were Parish President Tommy Martinez and Donaldsonville Mayor Leroy Sullivan.

Wiley hosted the luncheon to show appreciation to the veterans for their service. He also gave each veteran a personalized hat with their name on it, along with a certificate of appreciation, the release said.
