The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the fatal shooting of Christopher Goudeau in his home near Gonzales early Tuesday morning, Chief Deputy Bobby Webre said Wednesday.

A man and a woman were arrested, each on a count of first-degree murder, a short time later in East Baton Rouge Parish. Investigators said the pair, Kirkpatrick Wayne Morrison, 24, and Lauren Donaldson, 22, both of Prairieville, were acquaintances of Goudeau's.

Two arrested in Baton Rouge after slaying in Gonzales area early Tuesday

The two were at Goudeau's mobile home off Black Bayou Road when a fight broke out about 6 a.m., sheriff's deputies said. Morrison is accused of shooting Goudeau.

Morrison and Donaldson were later arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish jail after they were involved in a crash on Highland Road in Baton Rouge.

Webre said the two weren't being pursued by authorities at the time. Investigators believe the couple went to their own home in Prairieville after the shooting, then left for Baton Rouge.

Morrison also was booked on a count of aggravated assault, Webre said.
