Ascension Parish Recreation Department officials said they look forward to holding another Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition next year following the success of this year’s event held April 29 at the South Louisiana Fairgrounds.
The MLB Pitch, Hit and Run gives boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, the chance to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities, a news release said.
Participants Jayden Larvadain, Mason Mistretta, Landon Daigle and Kamryn Schexnayder qualified for the sectional competition in Slidell.
Participants were tested by throwing strikes to a designated strike zone target. They also hit balls off a stationary tee for distance and accuracy followed by timed running from second base to third base and finally to home plate.
“This was our fourth Pitch, Hit and Run event for the parish, and we will continue to hold this event because the participants really enjoy themselves,” said Ajia Mitchell, parish recreation program coordinator.
