More than 100 Girl Scouts in kindergarten through high school played games and picked up cookie-selling techniques during Friday’s cookie rally in Gonzales.

Cookie Rally coordinator Donna Hunter said the Girl Scouts, all from Prairieville-area troops, took part in cookie-themed games and crafts and “had fun learning about the cookies they will sell.”

The Girl Scouts also celebrated the 40th birthday of the Samoas cookie. An 8-foot-tall cake made of balloons stood at the front of the First United Methodist Church gym, location of the rally.

The girls learned about two new cookies, Rah Rah Raisins and Toffee-tastic.

Girl Scouts will begin taking cookie orders Friday and will end their initial pre-orders Feb. 1. Girls may begin delivering cookies Feb. 20 and will sell at various booth locations from Feb. 27 to March 15.
