The Rev. Monick Williams will preach at Trinity AME Church, 1420 S. Darla Ave., Gonzales, at 8 a.m. Sunday . The public is invited to attend.
The Women’s Missionary Society will conduct the worship service.
Williams is an itinerant elder in the AME Church and holds a Bachelor of Divinity degree and a Master of Ministry. She is a member of the Central North Louisiana Conference, Shreveport-Monroe District, pastor of St. Matthew AME Church in Tallulah and a paralegal with the Louisiana Department of Justice, Attorney General’s Office. Williams and her husband, the Rev. Mallory Williams, pastor of St. Mary AME Church in Addis, have three sons.
Practice ACT test
The Ascension Parish Library will administer a free practice ACT test courtesy of Princeton Review of Baton Rouge on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Gonzales location, 708 S. Irma Blvd.
Practice tests start at 9 a.m. and last about four hours. Remember to bring your calculators.
Space is limited, so registration is required. Call any Ascension Parish Library location to register.
Scores Back Session
The Scores Back Session, a free seminar featuring a representative from the Princeton Review, is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at the library in Gonzales. It is open to the public.
The session is designed to help parents and students navigate the road through testing and college admissions. Students who attended the free ACT practice test are advised to attend and will receive their scores . Topics include an in-depth look at the practice test, an overview of the ACT and SAT, and student’s high school timeline.

Labor Day closures
All Ascension Parish governmental offices and departments will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.
All offices will resume normal business hours on Sept. 8.
The Ascension Parish Recycling Road Show’s September date has been rescheduled because of the Labor Day holiday.
The road show will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wal-Mart store in Prairieville.
Recycled items includes newspapers and magazines, phone books and paperback books, mail, colored paper, envelopes, milk and juice cartons, cardboard, aluminum, tin or bimetal cans and metal lids, and No. 1 through No. 7 plastic containers.
The next scheduled date for the Ascension Parish Recycling Road Show will be Nov. 7.
