Two 4-H members from Ascension Parish were winners in the 2016 state 4-H Commodity Ambassador contests on April 19 at LSU.

Rachel Stewart won Egg Ambassador for Division I (fourth- to sixth-graders) and received a $50 award.

Matthew Landry won Turkey Ambassador for Division III (10th- to 12th-graders). He will represent Louisiana at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, in November.

“The program provides an opportunity for 4-H’ers to increase their knowledge of agricultural commodities, as well as improve their verbal and written communication skills,” said Theresia Lavergne, LSU AgCenter poultry specialist and coordinator of the contests.
