Donaldsonville's Lorraine Landry dished up bowls of gumbo made by her husband, Jamie Landry, at their Cajun Cancer Crushers tent Saturday at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.

Their team leader, Donaldsonville's Brandi Coupel, a survivor of cervical and skin cancer, said their team represents a total of 19 friends and family members who've lost their lives to cancer or are battling the disease.

Their team was one of many raising money for cancer services and research through the American Cancer Society during the annual Relay for Life event. The event kicked off with a ceremony and survivors lap.

Teams sold food, hosted games and had raffles to raise money as volunteers walked around the center.
