A St. Amant couple is the owner of a custom-built playhouse thanks to Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocate Association’s annual playhouse fundraiser, Casas for CASA.

Kristin and Garland Caronna are benefitting from the luck of Susan Himes, Kristin’s stepmother, a news release from CASA said.

Himes, of Geismar, purchased the winning ticket drawn in the fundraiser.

Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocate Association raised $96,000 through the campaign, which was held July 26 through Aug. 17.

The Caronnas are expecting their first child in March, the release said.

All proceeds from Casas for CASA support Capital Area CASA Association, a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and supports community volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in need of safe, permanent homes, the release said. This fundraiser enables Capital Area CASA to continue providing a CASA volunteer for every child who needs one in East Baton Rouge Parish.
