More than a dozen cancer survivors and their caregivers celebrated Sept. 25 with a bowling party at Premiere Lanes in Gonzales.

Phyliss LeBlanc, of Premiere Lanes, hosted the event, which featured free bowling and food, said Kriste Haydel, chairwomen of the American Cancer Services survivor committee.

This was the second year for the “celebration of life and survival,” Haydel said.

“Everyone there has been affected by many different types of cancer, but they all have one thing in common,” Haydel said. “Together, we can bring awareness and hopefully one day find a cure. It was wonderful to be there to celebrate with the survivors and to see them have so much fun.”
