Family health festival

St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales hosts Family Fest, a day of health and learning for the whole family, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Trade Mart Building.

The festival features free screenings and interactive exhibits, health information and activities for children and adults. There is no charge to attend.

Gator Glow Throw

Get in line for pancakes

The Gonzales Lions Club will hold its annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Lamar-Dixon Gymnasium.

Cost is $7 per person and includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Jambalaya will be sold separately from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Center Stage Productions.

The breakfast funds the club’s mission to provide eye examinations to local schoolchildren and corrective eyeglasses to all residents of Ascension Parish.

Register for story times

Registration begins on Monday and is required for all Ascension Parish Library spring story times. Four types of story times are offered:

BABY: Birth through crawling (parent or caregiver must attend with their baby); 10 a.m. from Feb. 11 through March 31 in Gonzales and Dutchtown.

TODDLER: Walking through age 2; 10 a.m. Wednesdays from Feb. 10 through March 30 at all locations.

PRESCHOOL: Ages 3 through 5 (child must reach the age of 3 by Feb. 10 to participate); 11 a.m. Wednesdays from Feb. 10 through March 30 in Gonzales, Galvez and Dutchtown.

BILINGUAL: Children of all ages who speak Spanish, English or both (parents are welcome); 11 a.m. Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 10 and March 24 in Gonzales.
