The dancers tapped to compete in the annual ARC of East Ascension’s Dancing for a Cause fundraiser next month are busy learning new moves and fine-tuning the cha-cha, rumba, quick step, tangos and other routines set to wow the crowd.
The event, set for July 9 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, raises money for The ARC, an Ascension Parish advocacy group whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for residents with disabilities through services that support choice, independence and dignity, a news release said.

Leading the local celebrity dancers will be instructors Leonard Augustus, Alyssa Babin, Le’Brian Patrick, Kris Cangelosi, Hannah Wilson and Jessica Kennedy.
