The Central Middle School Lady Mustangs clinched their second parish championship title for volleyball, finishing an undefeated season Oct. 21.

The middle school programs in Ascension Parish have continued to grow and become more competitive since being introduced to the middle school level in the past four years, a news release from Brooklyn Branum and Traci Roy Adams said.

Under the direction of head coach John Adams and volunteer coaches Traci Roy Adams, Robert Branum and Jessica Branum, the team improved each week, the release said.

The team was led by eighth-grade captains Brooklyn Branum, Hollie Thompson and Alynzia Morris, fighting hard every single week for each win.

Several East Ascension High School volleyball players volunteered their time to mentor and prepare the team, the release said.

Adams encouraged the players to treat each team like they were the last obstacle in the way of the championship.
