The Ascension Council on Aging’s popular Ask the Doctor program continues May 28 at the Gonzales Senior Center.

Registered nurse Mona Hull will talk to seniors on how to benefit from prescription and over-the-counter medicines while protecting their health from bad interactions and medicine side effects, a news release from COA said.

Hull, a longtime local resident, earned her nursing degree at the Touro Institute in New Orleans. She has held positions in a number of local hospitals including Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

The program starts at 10 a.m. and lunch will be available for those who register in advance.

During the program, the Gonzales Senior Center will kick off a new program to help women and men who have difficulty getting to a salon or barber shop.

There will be a drawing for a number of free haircuts by Shanna Johnson, owner of Shear NV Salon.

Haircut days will be regularly scheduled at the Gonzales Senior Center at a reduced price of $12.

Seven free haircuts will be given away.

For more information or to order lunch call the Gonzales or Donaldsonville Senior Centers at (225) 621-5750 or (225) 473-3789.
