Cats, dogs, a snail, turtle and guinea pig were the stars of the Jan. 15 4-H Pet Show at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.

Students exhibited their pets to win ribbons and certificates.

The event was part of three days of activities at Lamar-Dixon, including 4-H demonstration day and a stick horse rodeo on Friday and the annual Ascension Parish Livestock Show, which was Saturday.

Pet Show prize categories included longest tail, shortest tail, biggest, prettiest eyes, most colorful and best dressed.

In the cat division, Alli Burt, a student at G.W. Carver Primary School, and Ethan Brignac, St. Amant Primary, won the overall grand champion award.

Downtown Primary School student Julia Vidrine and Spanish Lake’s Chole Holifield won the top prize in the small dog class.

Torin Bercegeay, of St. Amant Middle School, won the best overall prize in the puppy class, and Camille Anthony, Prairieville Primary, won in the “other” division.

Caitlin Dulaney, Dutchtown Primary School, won the overall award in the large dog category, and Faith Colligan, Prairieville Primary, and Abby Lobell, Spanish Lake, won the medium dog division.
