The Gonzales Garden Club kicked off its service year Sept. 10 with a gathering at the home of Lorraine Gautreau.
Member Conchita Richey highlighted the club’s 18 service projects described in a detailed 2014-15 handbook as “the basis for a successful year.”
Gail Lonibos discussed participation at garden meetings at the district and state levels. Member Marilyn Oubre listed several practical recommendations to protect yards and gardens from hurricane damage.
Marilyn Rice organized garden tours, and historian Ellen Richmond presented GGC President Priscilla Monson with a book of 2013-14 club photos.
Members named new annual plants in their home gardens, brought bud vase samples and critiqued horizontal flower arrangements.
