Edith Walker, former principal of Dutchtown High School, is looking forward to working with other principals in her new supervisory role for the district for the coming school year.

As an instructional leadership partner, she’ll be working “in a partnership with principals, one-on-one, in their leadership roles” in the district’s middle schools, she said.

“I’m very excited about expanding my knowledge and growth in the district,” said Walker, who ran the Freshman Academy at Dutchtown High as associate principal before being named principal at the high school in 2011.

Carli Francois, former assistant principal at East Ascension High School, has been named the principal for Dutchtown High.

Other new positions announced by the School Board this month are that of Nicole Elmore, former civics and mentor teacher at Donaldsonville High School, as assistant principal there, and Christina Knight, former assistant principal at Duplessis Primary School, as principal of Central Primary School.

Pamela Hughes, former lead special education teacher at Pecan Grove Primary School, was promoted to the assistant principal’s job there.

Marguerite Ruiz, former assistant principal at Prairieville Middle School, was named assistant principal at St. Amant Primary School.

Former Donaldsonville High Assistant Principal Matt Geraci will take on the same job at Prairieville Middle.
