Aliesha Amiot, a member of Gonzales Girl Scout Cadette Troop 10506, recently earned the Girl Scout Silver Award.
The Silver Award is the highest award a registered Girl Scout Cadette in sixth through eighth grade can achieve, a news release said.
The award requires the completion of a series of leadership challenges that prepare Girl Scouts for their final “take action” project that involves approximately 50 hours of work, the release said.
Aliesha wanted to educate the public about pet adoption, animal health issues and needs of local animal health organizations. She spent summer weekends volunteering at the St. Tammany Humane Society and organized a dog wash in Livingston where she gave a presentation on proper health care, vaccinations and maintenance of animals.
Her project adviser was Rhonda Scallan.
