Animals of all sizes will be highlighted during several Ascension Parish 4-H and FFA events in Gonzales.
The Ascension Parish 4-H hosts its annual pet show Thursday, Jan. 15 at the Lamar-Dixon 4-H Building.
Registration is at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. The show is open to all Ascension Parish 4-H members.
The main categories are cats, dogs and other pets. All categories have subcategories, such as longest tail and brightest color, and each category has a best dressed competition.
The entry fee is $1, and the concession stand benefits the Ascension Parish 4-H Livestock Club.
The Ascension Parish 4-H hosts its annual stick horse rodeo at the Lamar Dixon 4-H Building on Jan. 16. Registration is at 6 p.m., and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. The show is open to youths 11 years old and younger.
The classes are buckin’ horse, buckin’ bull, flag race and barrel racing. The stick horse rodeo has a $5 entry fee.
The Ascension Parish 4-H and FFA hosts its annual livestock show at Lamar Dixon 4-H Building at 8 p.m. Jan. 17. There will be cattle, sheep, goats, swine, rabbits and poultry exhibited at the show.
