Steve Barrow, a former member of the Ascension Parish Planning and Zoning Commission, said he is running for a seat on the School Board because he wants to be part of the process to ensure local public schools will continue to provide a “superior education.”
Barrow, 39, qualified for the parish School Board District 4, Seat B office on the Nov. 4 ballot.
Barrow, a Republican, said he has a “vested interest” in the continued success of the district’s schools because he and his wife, Rachael, are the parents of four children who attend local public schools.
Barrow, who received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from LSU, is an account manager in refinery process chemical sales for Baker Hughes, in Geismar.
Barrow served on the parish Planning and Zoning Commission from 2005 to 2012. He is a deacon at The Grove, a campus of Istrouma Baptist Church in Prairieville, where his wife serves as the volunteer director of children’s ministries.
Barrow is running against incumbent John Murphy.
