West Feliciana youngsters are invited to the Fourth annual Summer Fun Day, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the West Feliciana Sports Park.
Sponsored by the West Feliciana Drug and Alcohol Awareness Council, Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office and the Sports and Recreation Department, the event includes live bands and entertainment, a rock wall, train ride, water slides, face painting, games, a petting zoo, police and military equipment displays, and door prizes.
Free food and soft drinks will be served.
Music at the library
Peter Villegas, a Native American-style flute musician, will perform in Jackson, Clinton and Greensburg next week as part of Audubon Regional Library’s summer reading program.
Villegas, who is of Yaqui Apache and Hispanic ancestry, will combine music and storytelling to ?remind us that life is full of simple joys.?
Performances will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Jackson Branch Library, 1 p.m. at the Clinton United Methodist Church Hall and 2:30 p.m. at Grace Nursing Home.
At 11 a.m. June 9 Villegas will be at the Greensburg branch library and at 1 p.m. at the St. Helena Nursing Home.
The monthly Community Market Day in Clinton will be held Saturday morning in the area around the courthouse and old downtown.
Flags will be posted all around the market area where the vendors set up shop.
A 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday workshop at the Baker branch library, 3501 Groom Road, will offer résumé help with laptop computers, résumé templates, and handouts with résumé building tips and websites.
Come at any time and leave when you are done.
A Baker reference staff member will help you update an existing résumé, help you with submitting a résumé online or help insert a résumé into an online job application.
Computer usage will be limited to a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum limit of eight people at a time.
Bring a USB jump drive in order to save your finished résumé.

Lane babysitting class
Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary will hold a babysitter training class from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 9 for boys and girls ages 11-13.

Civil War firepower
Port Hudson State Historic Site’s monthly firepower demonstration of Civil War weaponry will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Heather Howle, a member of the West Feliciana Middle School faculty, was chosen as one of 50 teachers from across the country to attend the 2011 Siemens STEM Institute, a week-long program this summer that promotes the integration of science, technology, engineering and math, also referred to as STEM, in the classroom.
