The first Clinton Community Market of the new year will be held Saturday morning in the vicinity of the East Feliciana Parish courthouse and along St. Helena Street.
Fresh produce, local honey, berry jellies, stone-ground cornmeal, creative craft items, art and a huge variety of market items will be available.
The Port Hudson State Historic Site staff and volunteers will conduct demonstrations with Civil War-era reproduction weapons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The weapons include cannons, muskets, rifles, carbines and pistols. A brief description will be given of each weapon and how it was loaded and used. The site is off U.S. 61 in East Feliciana Parish.
Art show planned
West Feliciana Parish’s Arts for All organization is seeking entries for a community art show the weekend of March 31-April 1. Anyone 18 years of age or older may enter one piece of visual art, which will be shown at Market Hall on Royal Street in St. Francisville.
Anyone who wishes to exhibit a work of art is invited to bring it by Market Hall on between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. March 30, or call (225) 721-1296 if those times are not convenient.
Dr. Japera Levine of the Foot and Ankle Institute in Zachary will speak on foot care and diabetes during Lane Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Support Group meeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the hospital.
The group is open to people with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, as well as family, friends and others in supporting roles.
Driving class nears
The AARP Driver Safety Course will be held at Lane Regional Medical Center from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Jan. 18,
This classroom refresher course for drivers age 50 and older will help you learn the effects of aging on driving and how to adjust and remain safe on today’s roads. Most auto insurance companies provide a multi-year discount to course graduates.

Spring classes set
The Spring 2012 course schedule for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at LSU is available at the OLLI website, http://www.outreach.lsu.edu/olli.
Members are eligible to register for courses taught in any of the three OLLI programs in the Baton Rouge area, including the Feliciana Chapter’s sessions at First Baptist Church of St. Francisville.
The Felicianas Chapter’s first session runs from Jan. 17 through March 15 and includes courses on U.S. presidential elections, beginning yoga, conversational Spanish and beginning oil painting, along with a survey course on Louisiana authors and a discussion group.
The second session runs from March 17 to May 3.

Teen club meets
Teens ages 12 to 18 are invited to the Baker branch library, 3501 Groom Road, at 4 p.m. Tuesday to play Madden NFL on the Xbox.
