CLINTON — East Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a jail employee and a woman visitor to the parish jail Wednesday night during an investigation of drug smuggling in the facility, a spokesman for Sheriff Talmadge Bunch said.

Jail Warden Ray Newman said Kabarris Jackson, 21, 10761 Johnson St., Clinton, was fired and booked with criminal mischief during the investigation.

Jackson, who has worked for the Sheriff’s Office for more than a year, is accused of attempting to assist in smuggling drugs into the Clinton jail, Newman said.

Jackson was released on $1,000 bail.

In a related arrest, deputies booked Kimberly Bell, 30, 264 Mary Lane, Woodville, Miss., with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and introducing contraband into a penal institution, Newman said.

Newman said Bell concealed the drugs in a package of Kool cigarettes.
