Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary has begun a new outpatient program, Lane Behavioral Health Services, at 6180 Main St., Suite A. The program helps people through times of stress, fear, depression, anxiety, and behavioral or emotional crises.
The treatment program teaches ways to respond to any traumatic life event and take charge to develop long-term skills for personal success, a hospital news release says.
Physician referrals are not required. Anyone may contact Lane Behavioral Health Services directly, especially people needing help, as well as their family members, friends, clergy, assisted living/group homes, retirement communities, physicians and behavioral health professionals.
Appointments for confidential assessments may be made by calling (225) 658-6640 between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Medicare and most insurance plans cover the treatments.
Charity softball games
Three softball games featuring the Baker and Zachary police and fire departments and a Baton Rouge radio station are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Zachary Youth Park. Come out and show your support for your favorite department.
Cajun fiddler visiting
Cajun fiddler and storyteller Anne Vidrine will visit Audubon Regional Library branches and nursing homes in East Feliciana and St. Helena parishes next week. She’ll be at the St. Helena branch in Greensburg at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, and the St. Helena Nursing Home at 1 p.m.
On Wednesday, she visits the Jackson branch at 10:30 a.m., Clinton United Methodist Church Hall at 1 p.m. and Grace Nursing Home in Clinton at 2:30 p.m.
Artists of the month
Connie Hoffman McMillin and Arnell McMillin are the featured artists at the East Feliciana Parish Clerk of Court’s Office in Clinton in July. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Art walk Saturday
Tickets are on sale at the Zachary Chamber of Commerce, Bank of Zachary, Cottage Fine Art & Framing, LeBlanc’s Grocery and Sammy’s Grill for the Zachary Artist Guild’s Evening Art Walk in downtown Zachary on Saturday.
The Art Walk will extend from the chamber office to the fire station from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sample hors d’oeuvres and liquid refreshments while admiring the works of 20 or so participating artists. A bandstand with music by L.C. Carney Blues Band and Sacred Strings Bluegrass will be set up by the fire station.
The public is invited to Lane Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Support Group meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the hospital.
More art on display
McKnight’s Gallery in the historic district in downtown Clinton will feature artwork during July by artists who attended a plein-air workshop taught by Ann Wagner. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
