The annual Zachary Christmas Parade will roll at 10 a.m. Saturday with the theme “Songs of Christmas.” The parade begins at Rouses Market parking lot and continues east along Main Street to downtown Zachary.
Be sure to remember the Zachary Chamber of Commerce's campaign during your holiday shopping. Participating shops have cards shoppers can have stamped for every $10 in purchases through Dec. 19. Completed cards can be dropped off at the Zachary chamber, 4633 Main St., by 4 p.m. Dec. 19 to be entered in a drawing for gift cards.

Small Fry's Cooking in Zachary is holding a Mini Holiday Camp from 8 a.m. to noon, Dec. 20-22. Only 10 spots are available. Activities for campers will include culinary lessons, arts and crafts, and other fun.
BRCC open house
Baton Rouge Community College Jackson, 3337 La. 10, Jackson, will honor veterans and celebrate student success at an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12. Residents from the Louisiana War Veterans Home will be among the guests. The school's health care department will offer blood pressure screenings and health care information. The welding department will display examples of student welding projects and demonstrate techniques. For visitors interested in trying their hand at welding, a virtual welding simulator will be onsite.
Photos with Santa
Centenary State Historic Site, 3522 College St., Jackson, will host its first "Pictures with Santa" event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 9. A Victorian-styled Santa Claus will be visiting so parents or grandparents can take children's photos with him.
After the photos, sample some hot homemade wassail and take a hayride through the grounds of the old Centenary College. Walking tours of the site are included as well as viewing the site's introductory history video.
Admission to the site, which includes the photo stop, hayride and wassail, is $4 per person. Children 3 and under and seniors 62 and over are free.

Mardi Gras fun
The Krewe de Central is holding its 12th annual Mardi Gras ball at 7 p.m. to midnight Jan. 20 at the CCA gym on Joor Road. Music will provided by the Chase Tyler Band. Cost is $50 a person.
