ZACHARY — Police booked an 18-year-old man early Wednesday with attempted second-degree murder in the stabbing of his stepfather, Police Chief David Courtney said.

Courtney said the victim, Horace Clay Sr., 59, was seriously wounded in the Tuesday afternoon attack, suffering multiple stab wounds to his face and neck.

The stabbing came after a fight between 18-year-old Frank Roberts III and his 14-year-old brother at their Old Town Drive residence at 4:30 p.m., Courtney said.

Clay reportedly intervened in the dispute and became embroiled in a fight with Roberts, who is accused of getting a knife from the kitchen to stab the victim, Courtney said.

Roberts was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
