BAKER — Police arrested a 17-year-old girl accused of stabbing her 19-year-old boyfriend with a small knife Thursday night, Police Chief Mike Knaps said.

Knaps said Demayra T. Ford, 632 Charles St., called 911 and told the dispatcher her boyfriend had accidentally stabbed himself while preparing vegetables, but police were unable to find any vegetables in the house.

Ford also claimed the two were playing with the knife but later said she stabbed him during an argument over a cellphone, Knaps said.

Ford was booked at Parish Prison with attempted manslaughter and resisting an officer by force.
