BAKER — A man accused of robbing two people at gunpoint on March 20 on Kimberlin Drive near Fullerton Avenue has been arrested.

Dequincy Shovell Turner, 19, 16338 El Scott Avenue, was booked Tuesday with two counts of armed robbery and illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to East Baton Rouge Parish court records.

On the morning of March 20, Baker police, while responding to an unrelated disturbance complaint in the area of 5350 Groom Road at 2 a.m., were approached by the first victim, who said he and another victim had been robbed at 1:30 a.m. on Kimberlin Drive.

According to an affidavit warrant, Turner got out of a tan-colored Chevy Impala and pointed a black, semi-automatic handgun at two victims walking in the area and ordered them to “give everything you got on you.”

After one of the victims gave Turner his wallet, which included $280 in cash, a debit card and a cellphone, and the second victim gave Turner $30, Turner got back into the vehicle, the warrant says.

Someone else was driving the vehicle, which the victims tried to follow but lost sight of as it turned east on Groom Road, the warrant says.

The driver of the vehicle admitted his role in the incident and to taking Turner to Baton Rouge, the warrant says. The driver and a victim later identified Turner as the man who committed the robbery, the warrant says.
