ST. FRANCISVILLE — The Fodor’s Travel guide has named this small town one of the top 20 day-trip destinations in the U.S., Laurie Walsh, the town’s Main Street manager, told the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday.
Some special attractions next month, she said, include the Oct. 10 Movie in the Park, which will feature pumpkins and hay for a fall-like setting. She also said the annual Warrior Dash is scheduled for West Feliciana Sports Park on Oct. 11.
Mayor Billy D’Aquilla reported the town’s Facebook page has been updated. He invited visitors to “Like” the “Town of St. Francisville” on Facebook.
The mayor also reported that the city will soon receive two used Ford Crown Victorias from a law enforcement agency in northern Louisiana at no cost to the town.
In other action, the board set Halloween trick-or-treat hours on Thursday, Oct. 30, rather than that Friday, which is the date of the West Feliciana High-University Lab football game. Trick-or-treat hours will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for children ages 12 and under.
Traditionally, houses and businesses along Ferdinand Street participate in trick or treating.
