CLINTON — Five out-of-state men accused of raping a woman while she was under the influence of alcohol, and possibly drugs, remained in the East Feliciana Parish Jail on Monday with bail set at $1 million each, Sheriff Talmadge Bunch said.
Sheriff’s deputies responding early Saturday morning to a call about shots fired on Hockaday Lane, off Plank Road east of Slaughter, found a naked woman in the bed of a pickup truck who appeared to have been drugged.
Detective Don McKey interviewed the woman Monday, following her release from a Baton Rouge hospital.
McKey said the woman reported she met two of the men at the bar of a Baton Rouge hotel and agreed to accompany them to East Feliciana Parish, where they met the other three suspects.
“She said she drank some more, and then they gave her what she thought was ‘moonshine.’ She said that was the last thing she remembered, but she did not consent to have sex,” McKey said.
Deputies arrested Rick James Cordova, 23; Dawnte Lamar Jones, 19; and Pete Adame Perez Jr., all of Alvin, Texas; David Flores, 31, of Gilroy, Calif.; and Fred Felix, 25, of Rio Grande City, Texas, Bunch said.
Deputies booked each of the men with forcible rape and illegal discharge of a weapon.
McKey said the reason the gun was fired has not been explained.
The investigation is continuing, he said.
