The Back Street Boxing Club of Carencro was named the best club of the night at the Baker Buffalo Festival boxing match Sept. 13.
It was the second consecutive year the club, coached by Shelton LeBlanc, won the honor.
Two 15-year-olds were named best fighters of the evening: William Glenn, of Frog Capital Boxing Club of Rayne, and Daniel Lassus, of Kenner Boxing Club.
Boxing fans watched 16 bouts of three rounds each that lasted from 1-3 minutes. Boxers’ ages ranged from 8 to 26.
Winners were Kevin Antoine, 22; Tafari Beard Jr., 9; Treyvean Beard, 11; Tion Celestine, 9; Tyrese Cormier, 15; Rodrigo Flores, 11; Tyrin Gordon, 17; and Kam’ron Hill, 11, who also won last year.
Also, Mansaro Hill, 17; Elbert Johnson, 9; Tarrone Johnson, 9; Javon Joseph, 11; Daniel Lassus, 16; Shamar LeBlanc, 9, who also won last year; Devantt McNair, 12; and Shawntravin Sampy, 12.
Boxers represented Back Street, Best, Crescent City, Crowley, Frog Capital, Iberia, Kenner, Red Stick and West Monroe.
The sanctioned show was held by Kevin Allen, coach and trainer of Hands of Stone Boxing Club.
Allen initially established Hands of Stone in Clinton in 2005. Boxers train at the Hands of Stone gym in Pride.
