ZACHARY — Police arrested an 18-year-old man Tuesday in the stabbing of his father during a family fight, Police Chief David Courtney said.

Courtney said the victim, 59-year-old Horace Clay Sr., was reported in critical condition Tuesday night with numerous stab wounds to his face and neck.

The stabbing followed a fight between 18-year-old Frank Roberts III and his 14-year-old brother at their Old Town Drive residence at 4:30 p.m., Courtney said.

Clay reportedly intervened in the dispute and became embroiled in a fight with Roberts, who is accused of getting a knife from the kitchen and using it to stab the victim, Courtney said.

Family members identified Clay and Roberts as father and son, although the exact relationship remained unclear Tuesday night, Courtney said.

Roberts was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of attempted second-degree murder, Courtney said.
