ZACHARY — The city is seeking vendors, musicians and non-profit organizations to participate in a new venture, the Second Saturday Community Market, which will be in conjunction with the Zachary Farmers Market.
The first community market will be Nov. 12 as an open-air market and cultural event at Florida and Virginia streets. Three markets also will be on the first three Saturdays in December, according to a city news release.
The market will be a producer-only event, with art, crafts, woodworking items, candles and baked goods created by the vendors. Ineligible items include resale items, crafts made from commercial kits or molds and manufactured items that have been assembled.
Food vendors must have all food provided to the public in appropriate containers, maintained at an appropriate temperature and handled in accordance with the state health regulations.
Local nonprofit groups, clubs, organizations and businesses may advertise with business cards, pamphlets, handbills or postcards in designated areas. Organizations having fundraisers may sell tickets or food as long as permission from the market board is given.
The market board also is looking for singers, musicians or other entertainers interested in volunteering to give live performances at the new market, with a tip jar allowed.
The deadline for submitting applications for the Nov. 12 market is Oct. 31, and applications may be picked up at the Zachary City Hall Utility Office, 4650 Main St.
