CLINTON — Meetings are set Tuesday and Wednesday for residents of Clinton and Slaughter to give ideas to consultants working on a master plan for growth in East Feliciana Parish.

The Clinton meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with registration and refreshments at the American Legion Hall at 12024 La. 67. The workshop will begin at 6 p.m.

The Slaughter meeting, with the same time schedule, will be held at the Slaughter Town Hall, 3337 Church St., on Wednesday.

Residents and business owners in the two communities are urged to attend the meetings to ensure the inclusion of their ideas into their town’s specific master plans, said Brent Soileau, project manager for the East Feliciana Parish Economic Development District.

“The towns of Clinton and Slaughter will have the opportunity to define to a greater degree the look of their towns in the way of infrastructure, which will guide their future growth,” Soileau said in a news release.

“From the first round of meetings, it’s clear that residents have very specific ideas about the parish. We now need them to help focus in and express those ideas in more specific terms for these two communities.”

The East Feliciana Economic Development District, coordinator of the plan, hired a consultant team, led by Kimley-Horn and Associates, to develop the project.

The team has finished the first phase of the process, drawing on ideas submitted by parish residents. The second phase focuses specifically on Clinton and Slaughter.
