BAKER — The City Council agreed Tuesday to hold a work session at 8 a.m. Monday on proposed new water and sewer rates.

When the new metered system is activated, rates will depend upon usage, officials said.

Until then, inside the city limits, the monthly flat rates for water service are:

• Residences: $14.

• Senior citizen residences: $3.

Monthly flat rates for sewer services are:

• Residences: $10.80.

• Senior citizen residences: $3.

Other matters coming before the council Tuesday included:

GAS LINES: The council approved a resolution calling for the city to pay $581,632 for the remaining costs of the municipal natural gas system improvement recovery project.

The $1,166,000 project will be funded partially under the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program and will alleviate conditions that may pose a threat to the community.

REDISTRICTING: Councilman Jimmy Pourciau said the council would be called to meetings with Glenn Koepp of Redistricting LLC beginning in August.

The council, along with other political subdivisions, is required to reshape its voting districts every 10 years to reflect changes in population determined by the U.S. census.

Koepp will offer technical and legal support to each of the five councilmen relative to redrawing council district lines.
