The East Feliciana All-Stars, a Louisiana State Cal Ripken league baseball team, competed in the league’s state finals for 12-year-olds June 26-27 in Kenner.
The All-Stars won two games and lost two in the double-elimination tournament.
Teams from Abbeville, Ascension, Donaldsonville, East Feliciana, Golden Meadow, Kenner, Kentwood, Madisonville, New Iberia, St. Charles, Terrebonne, Walker and West Feliciana competed.
During a 20-minute timeout that had coaches and umpires discussing the substitute player rule, the two teams huddled in the middle of the field taking turns breakdancing.
“We loved watching them having fun with each other while the adults were having a serious discussion,” fan Beth Dawson said. Her nephew, Hastings Dawson, pitches for the All-Stars.
