Victims of Clinton double homicide identifed; suspect arrested Monday _lowres

The homicide victims have been identified as 46-year-old Kem Smith of Clinton, and 39-year-old Clifton Cowan Jr. of Zachary, said State Police Trooper Bryan Lee.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his ex-wife and her boyfriend, both of whom were found in a home near Clinton on Sunday morning.

Louisiana State Police investigators arrested Eric Sanders, of Norwood, on Monday morning and booked him into the East Feliciana Parish jail, said Trooper Bryan Lee, a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police, which is assisting local authorities with the investigation.

A relative found the bodies of the couple at a home on La. 10 east of Clinton on Sunday.

Authorities declined Monday to identify the victims by name or provide additional details about the case.
