The East Feliciana Parish Drug and Alcohol Awareness Council and District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla are sponsoring a town-hall meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at 3814 Azalea St. in Norwood.
Residents will learn what officials are doing to help fight drug abuse in the community.
The meeting is a chance for residents to ask questions, get answers and find solutions along with members of the East Feliciana Drug and Alcohol Council, medical professionals and law enforcement.

Council on Aging events set
The East Feliciana Parish Council on Aging, 11102 Bank St., in Clinton is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Most activities for seniors start at 11 a.m.; lunch is served at noon.
East Feliciana Public Transit offers transportation Monday through Friday to East Baton Rouge Parish for the elderly.

Drug drop-off event slated
The East Feliciana Parish Drug and Alcohol Council will host a Prescription Drug Drop Off event from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday next to Slaughter Town Hall, 3337 Church St.
Residents are urged to clean out their medicine cabinets of unused or unwanted prescriptions by placing all narcotic and non-narcotic medications in an unlabeled clear plastic bag and drive in, drop off and drive away. No names or questions will be asked.

Rodeo fun for the family
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the Dan Klein Memorial Rodeo begins at 8 p.m. Sept. 18-19 at the Klein Rodeo Arena on Gross Road (off La. 67/Plank Road) in Clinton.
The Southern Pro Rodeo Tour is the 22nd annual to be held in Clinton and is a family-oriented event featuring bull riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping, bareback bronco riding, saddle bronco riding, a petting zoo for children and calf roping.
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate; children under 5 are admitted free. Get tickets at Pat’s Hardware in Clinton, Tri-Parish Co-Op in Slaughter, Zachary Feed and Garden Supply and at Cuts by Tiffany in Jackson.
Concessions benefit the McManus Volunteer Fire Department.

Jackson bicentennial planned
The town of Jackson will celebrate its 200th birthday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 26.
An art show and sale will be featured at the Pipes-McKowen Building on Charter Street and an open house is scheduled for Charter Street Studios featuring plenty of area artists.
Antiques will be on display for browsing, a wine-tasting is planned at Feliciana Cellars, and music and complimentary trolley car rides will be featured.
A photography retrospective of Jackson people and its architecture through time is in the works.
