Baton Rouge Community College Jackson, 3337 La. 10, Jackson, will honor veterans and celebrate student success at an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Residents from the Louisiana War Veterans Home will be the special invited guests.

Louisiana state Rep. Kenny Havard will serve as guest speaker. Attendees will be served a jambalaya lunch prepared by Slaughter Mayor Robbie Jackson.

The school's health care department will offer blood pressure screenings and health care information. The welding department will display examples of student welding projects and demonstrate techniques. For visitors interested in trying their hand at welding, a virtual welding simulator will be onsite.

Registration is open through Jan. 8 for the spring sessions at BRCC. Individuals may register for the 15-week semester or the first seven-week session, which will concurrently begin Jan. 16. To register, visit MyBRCC.edu and click Apply. Financial aid is available.
