Slaughter Mayor Robert Jackson and Police Chief Walter Smith Jr. were presented the Louisiana Municipal Association’s Silver Star Service Award on Aug. 9 at the Town of Slaughter’s monthly Council meeting.
The award represents four terms or 16 years in office, a news release said.
Each year, the LMA pays tribute to elected municipal officials who have given their communities many years of public service.
“Mayor Jackson and Chief Smith have fulfilled the public duty of serving their citizens in every way,” said LMA Executive Director Ronnie Harris. “Their dedication has earned our respect and admiration and we are grateful for their commitment to public service.”
