Clinton Mayor Lori Bell recently outlined changes to the upcoming Red, White and Blueberry Festival to be held in July in downtown Clinton.
Bell said that because blueberries are no longer in season when the festival begins, the town decided to change its name to the Red, White and Blues Festival, which will be sponsored by the town.
It’s scheduled to kick off at noon July 3 at the courthouse square in Clinton.
The mayor said the festival will not run into the Red, White and Blue Festival, which is scheduled for July 4-5 north of Clinton, on Liberty Highway at the American Legion Park. It’s sponsored by the Lions Club, the mayor said.
Bell said two local blues legends, Kenny Acosta and Kenny Neal, have confirmed their performances. There will be a fireworks display around 9 p.m.
There will be vendors selling their wares, and the mayor said she is meeting with several companies to possibly get a few carnival rides.
Bell said the opening ceremonies also will take on a new twist.
“When we have all the entertainment confirmed and a few other details worked out, I will let the public know what to expect,” Bell said. “I want to make sure that all who come out to the festival have a good time and want to come back next year.”
